I would like to donate my hair to a cancer society. Which one do you suggest and why?

I have heard some places that take hair donations for kids with cancer are frauds, so I want to make sure my hair goes to the right people. I’m a guy, so this is a once in a life time thing for me since it’s hard to grow it out 10 inches for donation.

locks of love!!!! they cut ur hair nice and its for a decent and loving cause of giving cancer patients the hair they have always wanted…..its very sweet….and they do it for free…check ur local salons
I would go with Locks of Love…
locks of love. I have a friend whose daughter donates every other year. Great program. And thanks for thinking of all the kids out there that could benefit from you.
This is the one I donate to (in my sources). Totally legit. Bless you and good luck.
danny thomas started this for children with cancer his daugther marlo thomas carris on her father.s work there where he passed away i cant rember the name of the hospital but many do this to different hospitals for children ?
I’ve personally donated my hair 4 times to Locks of Love. It’s great knowing that I can help a child feel more confident and fit in. You can look on their website to see what salons around you participate. In return for donating your hair, you get a free haircut. When I went, I chose a great salon downtown that included scalp and hand massages with their cuts.
I now go their whenever I need my hair cut. I am thinking about growing it out again to donate. I am usually able to do it twice a year if I’m willing to deal with long hair for that long. It grows pretty quickly.

Locks of Love is great, but they mainly do wigs for children with a condition called alopecia. Check http://www.candlelighters.ca for some places to donate hair for kids with cancer.
Like so many others have said Locks of Love, it is on the up an up. I have let my hair grow to 12-14″ have it cut and sent there many times . I started in 1970 an each time it reaches that length I do it. This will be the last time that I will be able too do it as at my age I am balding, and it just don’t grow like it once did. Bless you for thinking of all the children that need this.I earned 2 points for this answerer but YOU earn many for your act of love..*
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Donate your hair to Wigs for Kids. They are the only organization that makes wigs for kids with cancer who have lost hair from chemotherapy.
Wigs for Kids – Not-for-profit organization providing hair replacement solutions for children affected by chemotherapy, alopecia, burns and other medical conditions.

If you are interested in donating hair for women who may need a wig, than consider Pantene Beautiful Lengths:

Avoid donations to Locks of Love as they are somewhat deceptive. People recommending them are sadly misinformed. They do not make wigs for children with cancer who have lost hair from short term chemotherapy. The wigs are made for children with long term hair loss such as a condition called alopecia which is NOT cancer. Chemotherapy is a short term hair loss, thus the vast majority of children with cancer never get a wig from Locks of Love. LOL uses children with cancer in order to get donations.
With all the hair that is donated to LOL you would think you would know someone who has gotten a wig? I’ve never met one child with cancer who has a wig from this organization. Think really hard before making a decision to support an organization that cannot honestly tell people that children with cancer rarely receive one of their wigs.
if you want to help “kids with cancer” why not donate time or money for cancer research ?
A wig does not cure cancer, help them afford their medication or help prevent others from getting cancer.
If you’re going to cut your hair anyway, sell the ponytail on EBay and donate the money to the American Cancer Society. That will make more of a difference than a wig.
Locks of Love, ask most hairdressers, they know the process. Such a good deed!!
Locks of Love Society for Children with cancer. They will make wigs or extentions. My own Daughter donated her hair.
PANTENE BEAUTIFUL LENGTHS is one of the few that make wigs for kids and adults free of charge to the patient. Locks of love is the most known but sometimes sell the hair to other organizations.
Im a mom that wants to donate my hair with a lots of love for a child needs or persen.every time my hair grows Im going to donate with all my heart and love.
